The ESS Bargaining Unit of OSSTF, District 24, is made up of approximately 600 members working in over 100 worksites. Not only are we spread all over the District, our members work at a variety of different positions supporting education in Waterloo. Our job classes help students in many ways. We ensure our buildings are warm, secure, clean and safe for students. We enable students and staff to communicate through the board’s networked computer systems and software. We assist school administrators in finding substitute teachers, ensure employees receive their pay and benefits, and support the implementation of special education programs. We deliver curriculum to student s in the board’s Outdoor Education facilities. Our members work in school libraries ensuring students have access to resources they need to succeed in their studies. We are the calm voice on the phone when you contactl the ITS help desk. We are the friendly face who greets you when you enter your child’s school. We work behind the scenes to ensure our board receives the appropriate funding from the Ministry of Education. We teach school administrators and teachers how to utilize the software they need to do their jobs. ESS/OSSTF members are devoted to helping students in Waterloo schools and demonstrate our commitment every day.
